3 dress paintings in mixed media

Suzsi Corio lives and has her studio in a converted Victorian school in London SE22.   After studying constructed textile design at the Royal College of Art in the 1980s, She worked as a textile designer in Italy and then Hong Kong before returning to the U.K to set up a textile design studio in London, exhibiting and selling work in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo and the U.K. to clients including Ralph Lauren, Missoni, Kenzo, Calvin Klein, Saks 5th Avenue and Macy’s.

Painting has always played a large part in her textile design work and she has drawn upon her interest in texture and pattern to create a series of works on canvas and watercolour paper.

Suzsi’s career in textile design continues to inform the subject matter of her paintings which currently include a series of mixed media paintings of vintage dresses on paper and canvas using a similar motif which is then explored in different ways using a wide range of innovative painting processes.

Her paintings have  sold to collectors in USA, Europe and throughout the UK.

Paintings are built up using layers of textured gesso, watercolours, inks, acrylics or oils and are then sanded and re-worked to develop a unique and enigmatic identity. The boundaries of textile design and painting are merged when she incorporates her digital textile designs into some of the paintings using image transfer techniques directly onto the paper or canvas.
