I had a lovely surprise when I noticed a red dot on my painting at the National Open art private view last night! The exhibition is very well curated, and spreads over several floors of the fabulous Bargehouse Oxo tower wharf.
Highlights of this free ten-day exhibition event include:
# Groundbreaking new artwork from the winners and shortlisted entrants of NOA’s 21st National Open Art Competition – a true reflection of the UK and Ireland’s top artistic talent – exhibited across nine main gallery spaces at Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf.

I’m having a ‘good news for art week’ as I just heard that 2 of my large paintings of vintage dresses have been pre-selected for the Royal West of England Academy Open- fingers crossed for final judging!
The RWA is the UK’s only regional Royal Academy of Art and one of only five in total, alongside those in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and London.
Very pleased to hear that ‘Out of the Wardrobe’ will be staying out of the wardrobe for a bit longer as it has been selected for the National Open Art show at the Bargehouse, Oxo Tower in Novermber. More details to follow nearer the time.
Out of the Wardrobe’ has been shortlisted for the National Open Art competition 2017, and therefore eligible for the ‘World art Vote’ – please click this link to vote if you like it! Please vote here – World art vote
I’m just starting on a new series of dress paintings using an ‘A’ line dress shape as a different silhouette – what do you think? I’m planning to make the new series more graphic as a contrast to the 1950s vintage party dress series. The first painting is a pair of dresses contrasting winter and summer landscapes- Dimdra and Vera’s dresses.
It was good to such a great variety of paintings, ceramics and installations at the opening event. Lovely cocktails too! It’s on at #CandidArts #Islington EC1 until Sunday 4th June.
