‘The Director’s Cut’, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 8-16 July

It pays to check your junk email folder as when I checked mine this week, I heard that my Monotype print  ‘Towards the Woods’ was shortlisted for the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and will be featured in their online print drop – here’s mine:-

& here are all of the prints in the Director’s cut:-

It’s really encouraging news as I’ve only recently started making monotype prints. I’m still finding that for every one I make that I’m pleased with the next nine don’t work out as planned but this is more reason to keep making them!

Ukrainian Youth Group – collage workshop

I had a really enjoyable evening running an informal collage workshop for the local Ukrainian Youth group which meets at St Barnabas Hall in Dulwich. Although they only had an hour and a half, they all came up with some imaginative and thought provoking collages, and still managed to have time for pizza and a chat too! I’m looking forward to going back again soon. You can find out more about the group and also see larger versions of these and more collages here:- Ukrainian Youth Group, Dulwich

It was a great surprise to go back to the Summer Exhibition with the family a few days ago and to see a red dot by my painting, especially as it was sold before the exhibition had even opened to the public. I was also very pleased to see so many red dots on my neighbours’ paintings – congrats, everyone!

The exhibition runs from 21/6 until 21/8:-  more information about the Summer Exhibition

If you missed it, here’s a link to a video of a short walk-through the exhibition:- Artists’ Open House video May 2022 – Studio SE22

The Staircase – watercolour painting

It was a lovely surprise to have some good news recently – my painting of a spiral staircase has been selected for the RI Watercolour exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. It’s so long since I’ve been to any exhibitions so it will be lovely to visit one and to also be a part of it. If you’d like to visit the exhibition, pre-booking will be required here:- https://www.mallgalleries.org.uk/your-visit/admission

RI Watercolours – 2 paintings shortlisted

2 of my watercolour paintings have been pre-selected for the Royal Institute of Watercolours exhibition at the Mall galleries. ‘Bessie’s Dress’ is a collage made from many fragments of hand painted pieces of paper with varied tartan and plaid effects. I really enjoyed making this painting. ‘Nancy’s Dress’ is a nod to the 20’s, now that we are in the 20’s again but was made before we knew what an awful start to the new decade was to come. Take care and stay safe, everyone.
