Orange Gasholder
I've always loved the structures of gasholders with their distinctive shape, and liked the view of this one in London partially hidden by trees. I've used watercolour, ink, gesso and image transfer on watercolour paper, then scratched back certain areas to evoke a 'gritty city' atmosphere.
Although sold unframed, a basic white frame and mount can be supplied if required. Watercolour, ink, gesso and image transfer

Description
One of a series of paintings that I've made of the wrought iron spiral staircase disappearing up into the trees in the Palm House at Kew. It was painted using gesso, watercolour and water soluble pencils and inks. Parts of the image were scratched into and sanded away to evoke a ‘distressed’ & textural effect, leaving a rough, peeling surface to work into. One of the other paintings from this series was selected for The Royal Institute of painters in Watercolour 209th exhibition in May 2021 and exhibited at the Mall Galleries London. 'The Palm House' is professionally mounted, glazed and framed in a simple white wood grain frame.
